Rating this one gets tricky. out of five paw prints, maybe? One print lost because I dropped my phone on my face during a grind session, another because my brain still can't process why a side quest about a sentient mushroom made me feel things. The rest are solid.
The whole Pussymon thing, episode 28 specifically, it's like someone took that old monster catching itch, the one you got from bootleg cartridges with questionable translations, and asked "but what if the monsters were also... you know." And then actually committed to the bit. There's a roughness here, a deliberate lack of polish that feels less like a bug and more like a stylistic choice, like a garage band that knows exactly how to use feedback. The new areas, the outskirts, they have that same energy. You wander, you poke at things, and sometimes a new creature with a frankly ridiculous name and an even more ridiculous set of animations pops up. The hunt for the four new ones is straightforward, but the boss fight? Genuinely had me leaning forward, which is a weird posture for this kind of content.
Brimirny and the Red Rider get introduced here. They're supposed to be important later, in the massive episode 29 I keep hearing about, the Halloween one with Hydragodon. But here, they just sort of... exist. A promise of a bigger story that makes the current episode feel a bit like a trailer. A very horny, interactive trailer. The 17 new animations have variations, which is a nice touch, but I swear one of the side quest triggers is bugged. I clicked on the same suspiciously glowing bush for what felt like an eternity before anything happened. My finger got tired. Nobody talks about the physical toll of these games.
The cheat manager is locked away in the special edition, naturally, alongside a bonus scene with a legendary. It's a classic move, dangling the really good stuff just out of reach. Makes you feel like a kid again, staring at a toy behind a glass case. The whole thing is a strange, sticky, and surprisingly compelling mess of furry adventure and roguelike-ish questing that doesn't quite explain its own rules. You just sort of absorb them through repetition and accidental discoveries. And somehow, that's the point.
