Fred’s just gone. Poof. Not in the Mystery Machine, not raiding the fridge, not setting one of his overly elaborate traps that never work right anyway. The whole setup in Dark Forest Stories: Scooby-Doo feels like walking into a bad trip at a Halloween party where someone spiked the Scooby Snacks. You’re poking around his creepy house, and the vibe is less Saturday morning cartoon and more that weird, sweaty panic when you lose your phone in a club. Velma’s losing her glasses and her mind, and Daphne… well, let’s just say her usual “danger prone” shtick takes a hard left into territory that would make the network censors spontaneously combust. The art style is deliberately janky, like a bootleg animation cel got left out in the sun, but it somehow makes the whole thing dirtier.

The puzzles are the kind of moon logic where you’re rubbing a candlestick against a portrait of a dead relative hoping Velma’s skirt gets a little shorter. And it does. That’s the transaction here. You solve a riddle that makes zero sense, and the reward is a scene that’s pure, uncut hentai parody fuel. There’s a moment with Daphne and a suspiciously placed suit of armor that I’m pretty sure violates several laws of physics and at least three county ordinances. The dialogue is so stilted it circles back around to being hilarious, like a bad fandub where the voice actors gave up halfway through and just started moaning. You’re not really a detective, you’re a voyeur with a walkthrough open on your second monitor, clicking on every pixel until someone’s clothes fall off.

I can’t even remember what the actual mystery was supposed to be. Something about thin blue air. Who cares. The real investigation is how many compromising positions Velma can get into before she finds her glasses. The whole thing runs in a browser, so it’s got that sketchy, flash-game energy where you’re half expecting a pop-up ad for a virus. It’s a mess. A glorious, horny, unapologetic mess that understands the only reason you’re here is to see the gang get railed in a haunted house. Dare to play it alone, or invite company?

You ever replay a scene three times just to see if the dialogue tree actually branches or if the dev is just fucking with you? The bit where Velma loses her glasses and suddenly she's "convinced" to try on this latex number Daphne left lying around. The writing is so blunt it wraps back around to being hilarious. Like, no subtlety at all. Fred just stands there with that vacant grin while the new guy explains why Daphne needs to practice her "distraction techniques" on him. For the case. Right.

The art is that specific kind of 2DCG where the proportions are a war crime but the expressions are weirdly on point. Velma's dead eyed stare when she's bent over the Mystery Machine console, muttering about clues while the corruption meter ticks up. The sandbox loop is basically just clicking on objects and watching numbers go up, but the scenes themselves have this trainwreck quality. You know exactly where it's going. The trainer mechanics are barebones, just a few stat checks and a lot of "accidental" groping animations. The sound design is a single looping jazz track that I'm pretty sure is royalty free, and it cuts out completely during the group scenes, leaving just these wet slapping noises that made me snort my drink.

There's a moment where Daphne is supposed to be investigating a haunted armoire but instead she's getting railed from behind while the ghost just... watches. The game forgets about the mystery plot for huge stretches. The NTR tag is doing all the heavy lifting here, and if you're not into that specific flavor of cuckoldry where Fred is actively helping it happen, you'll bounce off hard. The prostitution side quest is just a menu with escalating prices. I spent way too long trying to figure out if the virginity flag for Velma was bugged or if I missed a trigger, turns out it's tied to a random conversation with a talking dog statue. Not Scooby. A different one. The cosplay options unlock in the most nonsensical order. Big ass, big tits, the tags don't lie but the animation rigging does some unholy things during the anal scenes. The corruption path for the female protagonist is basically a straight line down.
