ok so this is one of those phone simulators right, like you're scrolling through a messaging app. the whole thing is texts and pics, no big character sprites or whatever. and the premise is so mundane it hurts. your guy is a workaholic, just grinding away, and his girlfriend Lisa is at home bored out of her skull. some friend tells her to try this site called JustAFriend. you already know where this is going. it's like watching a car crash in slow motion through a cracked screen protector.
the interface is deliberately unpolished, like a real chat app from 2015. messages pop up with that little typing bubble and everything. i spent way too long staring at the read receipts, that little "seen" marker, because the game uses them perfectly. she sends a message, you're at work, you can't reply, and then you see her status change. the tension builds in these tiny delays. there's one moment where she sends a photo and you have to tap to download it, and my finger just hovered there like an idiot because i knew it wasn't going to be a selfie for me. the branching is messy in a good way. you can try to be the perfect boyfriend, call her, send gifts through the app, but the other storylines are already moving. there's this guy, her old friend, and the chat logs between them just appear in your feed. you're reading conversations you shouldn't see, and your choices are about how you react, not about stopping it. that's the ntr part obviously, but it's not just about the cheating. the nts branch, where she's the one sharing, that hit different. you're complicit in a way that made me close the tab and then reopen it three minutes later.
i wish the text input parts actually let you type instead of picking from two options. but it won't change. the game knows what it is. losing a character permanently because you fucked up a dialogue choice three chapters back is brutal. no warning, no second chance, they just ghost. like real life. the sex scenes are described in chat, explicit as hell, but it's the mundane details that stick. a changed profile picture. a last online timestamp at 3am. the notification sound from my actual phone made me jump twice. anyway the parallel storylines get tangled and i forgot what my original point was. something about trust.
