So I'm clicking through this VN, right, and the first thing that hits me is the music. It's this weirdly melancholic piano loop that doesn't match the step fantasy setup at all, like someone left a sad movie soundtrack playing in another room. It got stuck in my head for three days. Three. Days. I'd be trying to sleep and just hear that same six note pattern. Anyway.
The art is... there. Some CGs are actually hot, the way Margaret's shirt clings when she's doing dishes, that little bit of sweat on her neck. But then the next scene her face looks like it was drawn by a completely different person who only had a vague description to work with. The proportions shift around. One minute she's got these amazing thick thighs and the next she's built like a noodle. I don't get it. Why is consistency so hard. The son character, Richard, he's barely there honestly, just a pair of hands and a dick in most scenes which is fine I guess, nobody's here for him.
The writing tries to be deep about their "special bond" but it's mostly just Margaret sighing and looking out windows while Richard monologues internally about how much he wants to fix things. Fix things. Sure, buddy. We all know what you're fixing. The buildup takes forever, lots of scenes of them eating dinner in silence or her folding laundry while he stares. I kept clicking through going "come ON" but then when it finally pops off, the payoff is decent. The voice acting, if you can call it that, is just these little breathy moans that loop awkwardly. Sometimes they overlap and it sounds like a haunted house.
I wish there was more actual interaction instead of just watching Richard be a creep from across the room. A dialogue system or something. But that's not what this is. The mom's got this sad MILF energy that works if you're into the guilty taboo thing. The whole game feels like it's ashamed of itself which honestly adds to the vibe.
