The first time a slime girl actually lands a crit on you in this game, you'll feel it. Not just the HP drop. Something else. The screen shakes a little and her sprite sort of... glitches? No, that's not right. It ripples. And then the CG hits and you realize this isn't one of those RPGs where you just collect PNGs like stamps.
The combat is turn based but honestly who cares about the mechanics when you're two turns away from a game over and the wolf-girl enemy is looking at you like that. You know the look. The one that says "I'm about to make this loss worth it." And it is. Every defeat scene I've triggered so far has been... thorough. The furry tag isn't just slapped on here for clicks, they committed to it. Full commitment. The kind where you start questioning things about yourself.
The soul gathering mechanic is fine I guess. You wander around outdoor fantasy zones, collect souls, level up skills. Standard stuff. But the overworld is where the game gets weirdly charming. There's this one area with floating lanterns and the way the light hits the grass, I just stood there for like five minutes. Then a harpy ambushed me and I forgot all about the scenery. Priorities shift fast when feathers start flying.
The RPG elements are actually more involved than they need to be for a hentai game. Skill trees branch in ways that matter. Intelligence stat affects dialogue options with certain NPCs, which I only discovered by accident when I couldn't flirt with a fox spirit because my dumb ass put all points into strength. Rookie mistake.
One thing that bugs me. The save points. Why are they so far apart? I lost forty minutes of progress because I got cocky and thought I could handle three encounters in a row without healing. The game punished me. Not in the fun way. In the "staring at the title screen questioning my life choices" way.
The CG gallery fills up slowly. Earned not given, as the kids say. Some of the outdoor scenes use the environment in ways that made me genuinely pause and appreciate the composition. There's a scene with a dryad near a waterfall that I won't spoil but the water effects alone.
Anyway the turn based combat has this rhythm to it once you stop trying to win and start trying to lose strategically. Which sounds backwards but trust me on this one.
