Thalna's ink tells the whole story before she opens her mouth. Every time she gets a new piece done in some underground parlor, you can practically smell the cheap antiseptic and hear that buzzing needle. The tattoo scenes are weirdly intimate, all close up shots where you're not sure if it's pain or something else making her bite her lip like that. The artist's hands wander sometimes and the game doesn't shy away from where this is heading.
The choice system caught me off guard. Not because it's revolutionary but because I picked what I thought was the "safe" option and suddenly Thalna's getting this corrupted sigil carved into her thigh while some sketchy dude explains how she belongs to the syndicate now. No takebacks. No save scumming to fix it. You just have to live with her getting pulled deeper into this world where everyone wants a piece of her, literally and otherwise. The CG art when things get explicit has this raw quality, like someone scanned pages from a doujin that got passed around too many times. Rough linework but the expressions are spot on, especially when Thalna's trying to act tough while clearly losing herself.
The visual novel format works but sometimes the text drags between scenes. I found myself tapping through dialogue about underworld politics while waiting for the next corruption moment to hit. When it hits though, it hits. There's this one scene after a particular choice where the tattoo starts spreading on its own and the hentai sequence that follows is genuinely unsettling in the best way. The game doesn't explain half its mechanics. You figure out which choices lock you into certain paths through trial and error, or you don't. The whole thing feels underground, like you shouldn't be playing it, which I guess is the point. Some of the CGs won't load properly on mobile browsers though, had to switch to desktop halfway through a scene that was getting good.
