The first time I saw the ahegao face on that tomboy from the docks I nearly closed the tab. Not because it was bad, but because Finding Useful Tamable Allies doesn't bother hiding what it is. You're a futa on the run, broke and pissed off, and every girl you meet is basically a resource. The renpy framework chugs along fine, nothing flashy, and the 3d renders have this unpolished quality that somehow makes the corruption feel grubbier in a good way. Like you're watching something you shouldn't be.
I spent way too long on the name selection screen. Not because I cared about immersion but because the default suggestion made me laugh and then I couldn't decide if I wanted something serious or just leaned into the trashy vibe. The first real choice comes fast, you meet this sporty type with short hair and an attitude, and the game asks if you want to befriend her or start molding her into something more pliable. I picked the corruption route obviously. The dialogue gets repetitive after a few scenes, same phrases recycled, but the expressions change. That's the thing that kept me clicking. The way her face shifts from confident to broken, eyes rolling back, tongue out. It's not elegant. It's messy and the sound design is basically nonexistent which honestly adds to the sleazy atmosphere.
There's this one scene where you're supposed to be building your crew but I kept picking the lewd options with the same girl instead of progressing. The game didn't punish me for it. Just let me loop through variations of the same power dynamic until I got bored. Which I did, eventually. The empire building stuff feels like an afterthought, something to justify the futa on female content. I wish there was more tension in the non sex parts but that's not what this studio is selling and I knew that going in. Momoiro no Ryuu isn't pretending to make something deep. They're making something sticky.
The yuri tag is technically accurate but it's all through the lens of the futa protagonist so if you're looking for pure girl on girl this isn't that. The cheating element is there too, some of these women have lives before you show up. I forgot to check if that ever gets resolved because I got distracted by a new character who wears her hair in a ponytail and has this permanent scowl that I wanted to see ruined. The game delivers on that specific fantasy. Repeatedly. Maybe too much. I don't know. I'm still playing it.
