ok so i was poking around for something that wasnt just another boring visual novel and found this thing, right? and the art is like, deliberately rough. not in a bad way, more like someone's sketchbook that got way out of hand. the whole setup is this femboy protag, rascal, who's on a quest to get strong enough to rescue his boyfriend from some hell prison run by a queen with a name like a car. standard rpg maker vibes, you know the deal, walking around, talking to an old guy in a village called macaron which made me hungry.

but then the training starts and it's not just pushups. the elder, macaronia, is this ancient twink with a cryptic smile and suddenly there's tentacles. like, a lot of them. and the game just commits to it. the censorship is there, those annoying little mosaic blocks, but it's almost more suggestive because of it. there's this one scene where rascal is supposed to be meditating or something and these things just slither out of the shadows and the whole tone shifts from a rescue romance to this weird, psychosexual training montage. the futa and monster girl tags arent just window dressing either, they show up as these dominant figures in the training grounds, and the yaoi elements get tangled up with them in a way that felt genuinely confusing for my brain, in a good way. the romance with jessica, the boyfriend, is this pure, almost naive thing in the flashbacks, and then the present is just... slime and tentacles and powering up through degradation. it's a mess. the translation is busted in places, sentences that just stop, and i spent ten minutes trying to figure out why a healing item was called "stubborn bread." never figured it out. the monster designs are actually kind of hot in their grotesque way, all slick and wrong, but then a dialogue box will pop up with something so earnestly dumb about the power of love that you get whiplash. it's like the game cant decide if it wants to be a hardcore fetish dungeon crawler or a tragic gay love story and honestly? that's the best part.
