The whole thing looks like a flash game from 2006 that got left in a folder and forgotten, and honestly that’s the charm. Smurfette’s design is this weird mix of off model proportions, her hair is way too big, that blonde mess takes up like a third of the screen, and her face has exactly two expressions. One is “mildly confused” and the other is what I can only describe as the face you make when you realize you left the oven on but you’re also kind of horny about it. The surprise tag is doing a lot of heavy lifting here because nothing really prepares you for how janky the whole thing feels. There’s a doggie style scene that just sort of happens, no buildup, and the animation loops in a way that made me think my browser froze. I sat there for a solid ten seconds before I realized no, that’s just the loop.

The humor is the only thing holding it together. It knows it’s a parody, it knows the whole premise is stupid, and it leans into that. Smurfette gets drunk on stolen wine and the dream sequence is just a slideshow of increasingly absurd positions. The smurfs themselves look like they were drawn by someone who saw a picture of a smurf once in 1983 and then tried to recreate it from memory while drunk. Which, fitting I guess. The whole thing has this energy of a Newgrounds submission that got 3.5 stars and a comment saying “lol wtf”.

I keep coming back to the sound design though. Or lack of it. There’s a wet slap sound that plays on a loop during the doggie scene and it’s slightly out of sync, like a half second delay, and it drove me absolutely insane. Not in a hot way. In a “why does this sound like someone slapping a wet towel against a tile floor” way. Still laughed though. The surprise isn’t that it’s explicit, it’s that someone actually made this and then someone else looked at it and said yeah, ship it.
