You ever notice how some games promise corruption and give you a checklist of depravity by hour two? Project ONS is almost refreshing in how it doesn't do that. Almost. David runs a bar. Elena just got dumped. That's it. That's the setup. No succubus inheritance or magical sex curse. Just two adults with baggage deciding to fuck about it.
The kinetic novel thing means you're strapped in for the ride, which is fine because the writing actually earns its runtime. Elena's route hits different when you've been the one refreshing your ex's social media at 2 AM like a complete clown. There's this moment where she's talking about her breakup and David just... listens. Not in a creepy way where he's obviously waiting to get in her pants, but like an actual human being who's been through some shit. Then the pants come off anyway. The oral scenes have this deliberate pacing that makes you forget you're watching 3DCG models instead of, I don't know, real people who need better lighting in their apartments.
But here's the thing about that male domination tag. It's there. David takes charge in ways that'll either make you lean forward or scroll faster depending on your mood. The second route leans more into corruption territory but it's still vanilla extract compared to what's out there. And honestly? Sometimes you just want to see two people have vaginal sex without a dissertation on power dynamics, you know? The creampie scenes feel earned rather than obligatory, which is a weird sentence to type but I'm standing by it.
The 3DCG won't win awards. Elena's model sometimes moves like she's remembering how joints work mid-scene. David looks like every middle-aged protagonist ever rendered, which is to say vaguely handsome in a "stock photo of a bar owner" way. I spent way too long staring at the background props during one scene because the shelf behind them had books that were clearly just colored rectangles. Why does that bother me more than the actual sex positions? No idea. But it does.
Multiple protagonists tag is misleading. You get both perspectives but it's not like you're switching between them freely. More like the narrative just borrows their heads for a bit. The romance builds slowly enough that when the BDSM elements creep in during the alternate path it doesn't feel like whiplash, it feels like two people who started with vanilla and got curious. Which is probably the most realistic thing in the whole game.
