The art hits you first in this beta, that specific kind of upscaled older Japanese CG where the nipples look almost too detailed for the rest of the body. It's jarring but in a way that works if you've been down enough hentai rabbit holes. Ebihime's writing carries the thing though, which isn't surprising. Three romanceable characters, all with those massive anime proportions that make you wonder about spine health, and the dialogue actually gives you reasons to care beyond the obvious endgame of getting to the cumshot scenes.

The choices feel like they matter in that visual novel way where you're never quite sure if you're locking yourself out of content. I spent way too long on the wife character's route because her scenes have this domestic tension that reminds me of that one scene in School Days before everything goes to shit, except here nobody's getting stabbed. Probably. The beta's incomplete so who knows what the full version does. The sex scenes are explicit enough that I had to angle my monitor away from the window, which is my personal benchmark for whether adult content is doing its job.

The voice acting situation is weird. There isn't any, and I keep expecting it because the character designs are so archetypal. You know exactly what the childhood friend sounds like in your head before she even opens her mouth. The soundtrack is just kind of there, functional background noise that you'll forget immediately. What sticks is the writing and the surprisingly decent localization. Some of the menu text looks like placeholder from a 2005 eroge but honestly that adds to the charm. The full version's apparently out now on Newgrounds with improvements, so this beta's more of a historical artifact at this point. Still worth poking at if you want to see how these things come together before the polish pass.
