The character select screen alone is a war crime. You pick Fafnir, that shut-in otaku dragon who looks like he hasn't seen sunlight since the Heian period, and the first thing the game does is give you this curse magic menu. The UI looks like it was assembled in MS Paint during a coffee crash. I clicked on Tohru's portrait and the whole thing hung for like four seconds, just frozen on her face. Then it loaded this AI generated image where her left eye was melting into her hair. Not in a sexy way. In a "graphics card is dying" way.
The mind control mechanic is basically a series of dropdown menus. You select a target, pick a body part, then choose from verbs like "swell" or "twist" or "obey." I made Kobayashi's chest inflate to beach ball proportions and the game crashed. Reloaded, tried again, this time the text box just filled with garbled symbols. For a game about ultimate power, you feel remarkably powerless. The Chainsaw Man crossover characters show up with zero explanation. Makima is just there, in the Dragon Maid apartment, and Fafnir is using curse magic on her like it's a normal Tuesday. Nobody questions this. The writing has this weird translated by a sleep deprived intern energy, sentences like "Your curse enter her mind and she feel good about it now." Sometimes the AI art actually works and you get a genuinely hot image of Kanna with that thousand yard stare, and then the next scene is Fafnir's hand rendered as a cluster of flesh polygons.
The sound design. There isn't any. Just silence and the occasional Windows error ping when you click too fast. I spent fifteen minutes trying to get the Takiya scene to trigger and it just kept looping the same dialogue about video games. The curse magic has a "power" stat that doesn't seem to connect to anything. I maxed it out and the only difference was the text descriptions got slightly more unhinged. "Her body is now your controller" okay but the controller isn't plugged in, buddy. This whole thing feels like someone fed a horny AI a terabyte of doujins and then forgot to add a game on top. I keep coming back though. That one image of Tohru with the glitched eyes, it's living in my head rent free.
